Mathias Bones has published a new subway spotting video in Paris.

Late 2009, early 2010, is the end of the memorable period when the graffiti runs for months on line 3. I put aside my DV camcorder with which I shot “Second Life”, to start filming in HD with an DSLR.
The practice of “spotting” doesn’t change: spending hours watching, noting and waiting for the painted cars in the appropriate stations. The technique has nothing to do with it. No autofocus on the camera; limited zoom and stabilization; which gives much less spontaneity and discretion than with my small camcorder with a swivel screen.
Even though I still shoot with a “DSLR” today, I’m nostalgic for the days when labels were scribbled on the back of video cassettes.
