Durán Monkey Gallery opens “Mad City”, a tribute to the world of graffiti in Madrid
Next Thursday, November 3, the Durán Monkey Gallery (Santa Brígida, 11) opens “Mad City”. The exhibition includes the intervention carried out by 11 references from the national urban art scene and the new winner of this call, on twelve plans of the Madrid Metro in mupi format (176 x 120 cm). A sample of 12 projects, one for each line, and additional work by some artists, such as prints, paintings…
In addition, a selection of works and objects from the first referent and icon of graffiti in Spain, Juan Carlos Argüello Garzo, Muelle, will be exhibited. His work that began in the 1980s has become an emblem of national graffiti and this will be the first time these pieces have been shown in a gallery since his death in 1995.
The urban artists invited by the DMG gallery are:Belin, Beto, Fons, Murfin, Pablo Hablo, Pastron#7, Roice, Sfhir, Spok, SUSO33 and ZETA, all of them indisputable figures of Spanish contemporary urban art. Camello is the new artist winner of the MAD CITY call, who in addition to participating in this exhibition with the intervention of one of the maps, has won a supervised scholarship for artistic production for two months in the artist Sfhir’s workshop.
